The graph shows average carbon dioxide emissions per person in the UK, Sweden, Italy, and Portugal between 1967 and 2007.
Summarize the information by selecting the main features and make comparison where relevant.
The line chart examines the average levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted per person among 4 countries, the UK, Sweden, Italy, and Portugal, over the course of 40 years. Overall, it can be seen that major changes were made by Sweden, which reduced its emissions to a half and by Portugal, which almost doubled them. The UK remained the biggest producer of carbon dioxide among all.
The two countries that reduced their CO2 emissions from 1967 to 2007 are the UK and Sweden. The first emitted almost 11 metric tonnes of CO2 in 1967, but this figure steadily decreased over 40 years, stationing at around 9 metric tonnes 40 years later. Similarly, Sweden's emissions were just below a 9 but rapidly rose up to just over 10 metric tonnes in 1977. Almost as sharply, the figure dropped to 7 in 1987 and then proceeded to gradually decrease, until it reached 5 metric tonnes of CO2 in 2007.
Conversely, Italians' and Portugal's emissions moderately grew in the same period of time. Starting at just above 4 metric tonnes, this figure steadily rose until it almost doubled and reached a peak of slightly less than 8 in 1997. In the last 10 years, emissions remained the same. Portugal, on the other hand, gradually produced more CO2 and from 1 metric tonne, the amount reached a peak of 5 40 years later.
