The table illustrates the percentage of children in United Kingdom between 1990 to 2001 and was divided into 4 groups. Segmented line represents the 0-4 age group whereas the dotted line was indicated for 5-9 years of age. The solid blue and pink line were represented by aged 10-14 and 15-19 years old respectively.
British children age 0-4 ranked the second during 1990, being the highest population (25%). They steadily increased in number for 2 years but dropped its figure significantly after that, continued to fall in 9 consecutive years and was not able to recover (23%). Similarly, the kids age 5-9 fell its percentage in 1997 from nearly 27% to 25% in 2001.
In the start of the year 1990, it is clear that the oldest age group (15-19) has the highest percentage of population. However, this age group significantly fell its number (23%) after 4 years but was able to recover and slowly climbed up its peak in 2001 with about 25%. Likewise, the age group going to their teenage years (10-14) has been noticeably seen a rising trend from a figure of roughly 23% in 1990 until it had reached its peaked in 2001 surpassing the other 3 age group with 26% of population.
Overall, the population of young British people age 0-9 was evidently observed a decrease in number as the time continues. In contrast, older children age 10-19 dramatically expanded its population within 11 years of time.
