The Internet is viewed as an excellent means pf communication by many. However, there are some who would argue that it is actually destroying our communication skills.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
People of the world should thank the Internet for it's immense contribution to the society as it has made our lives easier, faster and better. However, like everything has its negatives, Internet too has some drawbacks that alter our basic communication skills. Whether or not internet spoiling our communication skills is discussed below before giving final verdict.
During early days, people had to wait for days to week to know the well-being of their beloved ones that live far away from them. But, today the story is entirely different and this is because of the internet becoming part of our life. It has made our lives so much better by decreasing the distance between the people and thus providing many advantages along with it. Few of such pros are chat forums, Messengers, chat rooms and video calling options that connect people globally and then enable to share information. Furthermore, these act as an excellent platform to showcase one's linguistic talents and can also be used to improve it if one is lagging behind. Any language has to be polished with thorough practice and internet provides us the connection with people that are able to help.
In contrast, many believe that communication skills was getting off the guard because of the Internet itself. Firstly, this is because of the shortcuts that people opt to use in chat which makes people to habituate to such formality and thus destroying the original language. Secondly, as internet offered online banking in order to pay bills and transactions etc.,on the fingertips, making people hardly to step out and talk to people on the way and around. Furthermore, inhibiting people to practice their skills as it is undergrounded. Finally, if people choose to or fail to communicate with people that possess less skills might not also help to the one that had intention to improve.
In my opinion, i partially agree with both the arguments because when rightly used, the internet provides an excellent platform to learn communication skills. So, instead of using internet in such a way that lowers their skills in communication then it is by far better to choose ways in which they can improve.
