Overall, it is evident that the vehicle ownerships in Britain experienced an upward trend, while the number of people not possessing the cars declined significantly.
The proportion of people having two of four whale vehicles was commenced at approximately 8% in 1971, doubling in 1991 before soared to more than 25% in the final year. Meanwhile, the percentage of people possessing three or more cars was stood just below 2% from 1971 to 19979, and it doubled in 1991 followed by a flat in the next five year. In 1999, approximately 5% of british had three or more vehicles and this figure was seen a small change to about 6% in 2007.
However, the figure for people owning one car was stable. it stood at around 43% in the first initial year, and accounted for a similar number in the last year. In contrast, just below 50% of the british had no car in 1971, and this figure inclined significantly to about 25% in the last reported year.
