Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The chart compares the percentage of total spending in a country of Europe in the 40-year period from 1960 to 2000.
Overall, while there was an upward trend occurring in transport, the rest witnessed an opposite trend over the period shown. The figure for food accounted for the largest, while that of fuel and energy took the lowest position.
In 1960, 34% of total expenditure was spent on food, followed by leisure with nearly one-fifth. However, the two figures decreased over the next 40 years, reaching 15% and 11% in 2000 respectively.
In the first year of the period, clothing, transport and fuel, and energy were considered as the minorities. 10% of the total money was spent on clothing and transport each, which doubled the figure for fuel and energy( about 5%). However, while the percentage of transport increased moderately to 15% by 2000, there was a slight decrease in the money spent on clothing and fuel and energy, at just 5% and 2.5% respectively.
