Many governments think that economic progress is their most important goal. Some people, however, think that other types of progresses are equally important for a country.
How should a government prioritize any sector entailing development? This question is quiet relevant in present scenario. Many governments in the world, elucidating about how economy has helped human being, opt economic progress as their top priority; however, some of their counterparts believe that all fields entailing progress must be addressed in order to stand out against their competitor. I mostly believe with later groups of establishments because of the reason that our advancements hinges upon all the sector of development along with economy.
Admittedly, the people who are in favor of economic progress justify their argument with the reason that world, as engineered and advanced as we see today, is literally run by economy. Thanks to system of economy, not only did we, being a human species, dominated entire world with our new discoveries and innovations, we also made our life easier. Free market and privatization, for instance, made our daily basic needs (food, shelter and security) abundant and cheap which, before farming era begun, had to be acquired through taxing efforts. This is why most government spend most of the resources in economic development.
However, governments should not categorically prioritize economy as their first priority in term of investing or funding as there are other field which requires help from the government. Should government trivialize other sector, further advancement of human species in this world will not be possible. To illustrate, even though some of financially unfeasible research projects, such as space exploration, colonization of mars or moon and development of galactic empire, seems far-fetched, government must continue on funding these projects as these expeditions help proliferating progress of human species. Moreover, spending only in economic progress will not be sustainable if other sector is taken for granted. For example, it is fallacious to assume that without funding and prioritizing education government will continue on pilling up the wealth. To sum up, all the sector of development should be equally treated for long term development of nation.
To conclude, while many establishments put economic progress as top priority citing aforementioned reasons, I, however, contend that each and every sector should be equally developed in order to have an edge over other.
