The map below shows the development of the village of Ryemouth between 1995 and the present.
The given map illustrates the developments of a village called Ryemouth for 25 years. Overall, there are many changes in the village, the most noticeable ones being the elimination of the fishing industry, an increase in accommodation and the introduction of sports facilities.
In 1995, there was a fishing port in the south of the village with a fish market. Next to it, there was a small cafe and on the other side of the coastal road, there were shops along with a hotel. To the north-east of the village, there were farmland and a park with trees. The main housing area was situated at the north-west of the village around the main road. There was a total of 12 houses which 4 of these were encircled by a smaller side street.
At present, it can be seen that the fishing port and fish market is gone. In place of the market now stands new apartments. Also, shops are turned into restaurants. The cafe and the hotel remain although now there is a car park next to the hotel. The farmland has been converted to a golf course while the forest park has been removed for tennis courts. 4 new apartments have been built in the housing area, along with an additional street.
