The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.
Given are two maps, one depicting the plan of a town centre known as Islip, and the other proposing some developments to it.
A brief analysis of the figures reveals that the cardinal change will be the construction of the road around the area. It is also interesting to note that the countryside will be replaced by some modern facilities, including the bus station, shopping centre, and areas only for walkers.
Looking at the map of the town as it is today, there is a main road from west to east, and a row of shops are on either side of the road. In a planned development, the main road will be supplanted by pedestrians site. Also, shops on the north side of the road will be replaced by different amenities, namely a bus station, shopping centre, car park, and a new housing area.
The traffic will be led to a dual carriageway, forming a ring around the centre of the town.
There is another residential area on the south side of the main road near shops and a park. The park size will be reduced in the future to making a new location for housing. Moreover, there will be no change in the situation of the school and housing area, which are located on the south side of the map.
