The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The diagrams illustrate the information about the current town centre of Islip and its future modification plan.
Overall, the Islip town centre is expected to develop from a rural area to an urban place. Some modernised public facilities are planned to be constructed in the future.
To be more specific, the shops which are located in the central part of the town centre will remain the same. Likewise, the housing area situated in the South also will keep its place with the construction of some new houses, and the school in the Southwest of the town will slightly expand its size after the renovation.
On the other hand, the new town centre will be surrounded by a dual carriageway. The old main road will be converted as a pedestrian way. Shops located in the North side of the centre is expected to be demolished as a bus station, a shopping centre, a car park and some new houses will be built in that area. Moreover, the park located in the Southeast corner will shrink its size after refurbishment.
