The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.
The maps illustrate planned improvements of the Islip town centre compared with its current layout.
Overall, it is obvious that this small town will experience a greatly new renovation. However, schools and parking lot still keep their current statuses without any changes.
First and foremost, to the north of the map, we can see that infrastructure will be removed to make way for significant developments. There will be bus facilities on the west side of the map, next to the shopping centre and the car parking lot. Moreover, the new housing will be located opposite to the car parking site as well as the appearance of pedestrian-only road. Shops will also be conveniently situated along the pedestrian road.
Last but not least, in the south to the map, this area is going to be remained the current structure, yet a new housing will be built between the existing housing and the new parking space. The thing that will stand out most is the carriageway directing to the current housing area.
