The maps below show the changes experienced by the town of Lakeside at the beginning of the 21st century.
The maps illustrate the development in the town of Lakeside from 2000 to 2009.
As can be seen from the maps, the area witnessed significant changes. There was considerable development in facilities, except for the lake in the middle of this area
On the left side of the river, the derelict warehouses were converted into a car park, the residential area adjacent to the river was demolished to make way for a shopping center. Both arts center and old town were knocked down, only the residential area adjacent to old town remained. In 2009, offices and part of an univeristy were constructed in the place where the old town used to be. Schools increased in number.
On the other side of the river, the residential area was removed and the industrial complex expanded, which even covered the residential area in the past. Furthermore, the lake decreased in size and turned into a pond connecting with the river.
