The bar graph shows the proportion of certain sectors- agriculture, manufacturing, and business and financial services- contribute to uk economy from 1900 to 2000. The percentage of contribution of each sector varies with respect to time.
The agriculture proportion of contribution fluctuated wildly, but the trend is down ward in ten-year period. Its proportion slightly increased from 1900 and 1950, and then reached the peak in the year of 1950 at just over 50% of uk economy. The contribution of agriculture dropped down continually from 1950 to 2000. In 2000, there was under 5% of contribution of agriculture in economy –declined over 10 times compare to the highest point.
The percentage of manufacturing in uk economy fell steadily during ten last years of 20th century. The proportion of manufacturing dropped down by 20% from 1900 to 2000 (45% and 25% respectively). Although the proportion tends to decrease, the role of manufacturing was still maintained as second highest contribution in uk economy, except in the year of 1975.
It is notable that the contribution of business and financial services rose gradually, from the least to the most contribution to uk economy. From the figures, the lowest proportion of this sector is only under 5% in 1900. Following, the proportion sharply increased through each year and reached the peak at about 40% in 2000.
Overall, the proportion of agriculture and manufacturing tended to drop down while the proportion of business and financial services rose significantly.
