The monthly price of exported rice from ThaiLand and VietNam from 2012 to 2015 (Million dollars per tons)
Given are the two line graphs contrasting the price of rice exported per month in two agriculture countries, namely Thailand and Vietnam during a four-year period, commencing from 2012.
It is conspicuous that rice from Thailand was worth more than its Vietnamese counterpart during the time frame. Furthermore, the rice price witnessed a wild swing in each month.
In January of 2012, rice was exported with a significant price in Thailand with over 500 million dollars per ton while it had a lower price in Vietnam with exactly 400 million dollars per ton. Despite their drastic plunges in the second quarter, these prices recovered and stabilized in the remainder of the year in Vietnam and reached a zenith price with 550 million dollars per ton in Thailand. In 2013, there was a dramatic decrease in price in both regions, from 550 million dollars and 360 million dollars per ton in the first month to 400 million and 350 million in the last month in Thailand and Vietnam, respectively.
In 2014, the rice price in Vietnam plateaued at around 330 million dollars per ton, while an steadily soaring price in 2015 with 330 million dollars was recorded in December. In Thailand, although the price of rice exported in 2014 was higher than 2015 in January, with 450 million dollars for the former year and 405 million dollars per ton for the latter, the reverse was true in December with a slight higher with 470 million dollars in 2014 compared to 460 millions dollars in 2015.
