The provided line graph illustrates the data on the percentage use of renewable energy compared to all energy sources in six different countries (Finland, Denmark, Germany, France, United Kingdom, and the United States) over a period of 35 years, starting from 1971.
Overall, it can be obtained that most of the countries showed the upward trend in renewable energy use whereas Finland was exceptional and demonstrated a downward trend. However, Finland consistently leads in using renewable energy for all times throughout the given the period.
Examining the dataset from 1971 to 2006 in more detail, it is evident that, Finland started the use of alternative energy with 25% of the total in 1971, experienced the dramatical dropped to 17% in 1981. Then it reached to 23% in 2006, which is the highest percentage among the all countries. Denmark began to use sustainable energy from 15% in 1971 and declined substantially to 1986 and reached to the starting level in 2006. The use of renewable energy in France fluctuated between 8% to 14%. The United States exhibited the most significant increase in using green energy (15%), starting from 2% to reached at 17% throughout the period. The United Kingdom used the renewable resource the least throughout all countries, from 1% in 1971 to 5% in 2006.
