Overall, it is immediately apparent that overgrazing and deforestation were the main causes of farmland in the whole world. Furthermore, the total of degraded land in Europe was the highest percentages during the 1990s.
As can be seen from the pie chart, it is clear that there were 4 primary causes to the agricultural land which overgrazing was the major one, with 35%, while the other reasons were just around 7%. During the same period, over-cultivation and deforestation were constituted around 28% and 30%, respectively.
Regarding the table, there was the land area degraded in Europe which have the highest proportion on average, accounted for 13%, and the main reason was deforestation, with 9,8%. By contrast, the total land area regraded by over-cultivation, which also the main cause leading to these problems, was reached to over 11%. Moreover, in Oceania, the percentage of degraded land was only 5% that over-cultivation was made up more than 3% of unproductive land
