The pie charts depict the expenditures in 5 sectors in two Asian countries Japan and Malaysia.
From an overall perspective, it is clear that residents in both countries spend a large portion of their income on housing, food, and transport except for transport and healthcare.
The largest percentage is the money spent on housing in Malaysia, with over one-third (34%) while the figure for Japan is noticeably smaller, at only 24%. Similarly, the expenditure on food in the former nation also outstrips that of the latter by 27% and 24% respectively.
However, Japan surpasses Malaysia when it comes to spending on the others. Particularly, other goods and services represent up to 29% of Japanese income compared to a slightly lower portion of 26% by Malaysians. Most strikingly, the transportation expense in this nation makes up one-fifth, doubling that of the Southeast Asian country, with 20% as opposed to 10%. Being the least important sector, health care occupies a tiny minority / receives an insufficient amount of investment in both countries with 6% in Japan. Whereas, the figure for Malaysia is only half as high.
