The pie charts below show the percentage of kinds of books sold by a bookseller between 1972and 2012

Selling percentage of five sorts of books is shown in the below pie graph by booksellers since 1972 until 2012.

Overall, there was a significant increase in reading adult fiction by the end of 2012, whilst a dramatic decline was detected in the proportion of people who used to read books related to biography and life stories.

In 1972, a fifth of the public tended to read many kinds of fiction especially adult fiction, this percentage increased gradually in 1992 to be a quarter, then continued to increase reaching its peak in 2012 to be almost a half. There was a steady growth in the percentage of children, who were interested in reading children’s fiction in 1972 reaching around a quarter by the start of the 2000s.

On the other hand, there was a downward trend in reading the biography of celebraties and popular people. The proportion of people who had read biography decreased gradually to an insignificant number in 2012. Additionally, the proportion who showed an interest in reading travel books was proportionally fluctuated throughout the whole period.
