The plans below show the layout of a university's sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.
The map compares the current site of a particular university's sports center with its layout after the projected plans for development.
Overall, it is clear that the main changes for the future involve the destruction of the two outdoor courts to make way for the expansion of the main building and the addition of many facilities inside the newly extended building to diversify the activities taken indoors.
At the present, the sports center's main building has two large outdoor courts located to both the West and East sides of it. At the center of the main building, we can see a reception desk. Behind it, there was a 25m swimming pool, which is close to a seating area in its West, a changing room area in its south, and the gym in its North.
After the redevelopment, it is apparent that the two outdoor courts will no longer exist and the main building will have been expanded tremendously to East and West. Most of the original features inside the building will remain intact, except for the gym, which will double in size and connect with two new dance studios stretching along the East wall. A sports hall will also be constructed next to the gym and the seating area, opposite a café and another changing room in the southwestern corner. Regarding the Eastside, a large leisure pool will be constructed next to the original changing room to complement the old 25m pool. This leisure pool will be close to another newly-constructed changing room in the northeastern corner and a sports shop.
