Table
The given table illustrates average distance travelled per person in England in miles in the years 1985 and 2000. There are total seven modes of travel described in table namely, walking, bicycle, car, local bus, long distance bus, train and taxi.
First of all, total number of miles travelled per person is moderatly increased in 2000 than 1985, as total 6475 miles travelled in 2000 whereas only 4740 miles travelled in 1985 per person including all modes. In 2000 distance travelled by walking and bicycle was slightly decreased than 1985 whereas distance travelled by car increased in 2000 approximate around 20% than 1985. Major decline was seen in using of local bus, as its distance reduced almost half, 429 mile to 274 miles in 1985 to 2000 respectively.
Secondly, people were less preffering long distance bus, train and taxi, thus the distance travelled by those modes were 54, 289 and 13 miles in 1985, although in 2000 those travel modes became popular and the distance increased to 124, 366 and 42 respectively. Other modes of travel also being more used by people and its distance also gone up to 135 miles.
Overall, in 2000 people were more using advanced vehicles like car, bus, train and taxi rather than taking a walk or bicycle.
