The table below gives information about the average annual distance travelled by adults and the types of travel in 1977 and 2007. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The table compares several means of transportation with regard to the amount of distance travelled by adults yearly in 1977 and 2007. There was a shift in the usage of the kinds of transportation.
There was a tendency to travel by faster types of transportation, as the figures for bus, bike, motorcycle and walking experienced a slight drop. Specifically, travellers in 2007 walked and rode motorcycles less than those in 1977 100 miles. Travellers by bike also declined to 80 miles in 2007. From the third prevalent mode, the average distance that passengers travelled by bus decreased by 300 miles during the period of 30 years.
Conversely, a private vehicle was recorded to have an increase in the average distance per year. Taking the lead was the figure for cars with a staggering rise from 3500 miles in 1977 to 7100 miles in 2007. Following that, the figure for trains was the second highest figure in 1977, increasing moderately by 100 miles in the same period. Additionally, taxi witnessed a tremendous increase in the annual average distance, with 800 miles in 2007, which is 600 miles longer than it was in 1977.
It can be seen that the average distance travelled per year changed variously depending on the specific kinds of transportation, but car was still the most popular mode throughout the period.
