The given table illustrates the proportion of workers employed in 6 different industries in Australia ustralia between 1980 and 2009.
Overall, it can be seen that, in the industries except manufacturing and retail the percentage of workforce increased during the period. Also, the biggest decease in the workforce was withnessed in the manufacturing industry.
To begin, in 1989, the highest percentage of workers were employed in the manufacturing industry(15%), followed by retail(11.8%). The proportion of workers in healthcare and construction were around 9% and 8%, respectively. Whereas, in the education and tourism industry, the figures were comparetively low, at 6.8% and 5.5%, respectively.
In 2009, the proportion people working in the manufacturing and retail industry declined, to just below and just over 10%. In the other 4 industries the figures rose. The highest increase in the percentage of workforce was seen in health care industry, to 11.8% followed by construction(8.3%). In the education and tourism industry, there was only a slight change in the percentage, to 7.5% and 7.3%, respectively.
