The table below highlights data on the number of travelers using three major British airports between 1998 and 2003.
The table illustrates how many passengers traveled by three major airports in Britain over a five-year period, between 1998 and 2003. The three airports are namely Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stansted.
Overall, it can be seen that there were upward trends in the number of travelers at all three airports. One interesting point is that the largest rise occurred in Gatwick which was also the most popular airport throughout the period.
Looking at the details, as regards Heathrow, it started with 27.2 million travelers. The figure went up steadily and hit a peak at 48.2 in 2000. After that, it fell sharply to 33.2 in 2002, despite increasing sharply to 45.6 in 2003.
If we look at Gatwick, it was the most used airport with 36.5 million travelers in 1998. It witnessed a consistent rise by an average of 3 million in the next 4 years followed by a rocket, reaching nearly 70 million, twice the initial quantity. The trend was also similar for Stansted. Travelers increased gradually from 17.3 million to 26.6 and 39.9 in the first two years. After growing to 43.3 in the following year, the data stayed constant.
