Essay topics:

The table below shows how the UK unemployed spent their time last year.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The given tabular chart depicts the various activities that took up the time of UK's unemployed in the previous year.

Overall, it can be seen that morning people are more active than those who wake up at noon or later. Housework is by the far the most popular task as a whole whereas job hunting take second place.

Looking into detail of the morning persons, what stands out is that while looking for employment, at 22%, is most popular with morning men, nearly half of women's time is spent performing household chores. This takes precedence to looking for employment, which at 22% men seem to concentrate on more than women at 16%. About one fifth of both gender's time is also given to shopping, which, surprisingly, is roughly the same time as job hunting for men.

On the other hand, afternoon people tend to spend more of their time on leisure activities. TV is most popular with the gents as 14% of last year was spent watching television. Shopping, and visiting friends and relatives is more popular with the women, who spent 17% of their time on each. This is a stark outcry from the early risers, who, in comparison, spent less than three quarters of their time on any of these activities.
