The table below shows how the UK unemployed spent their time last year Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant

The given table illustrates the activities done by the unemployed in Britain in the previous year grouped by both gender and when they are done (morning or afternoon). The activities involve fourteen different pastimes.

Overall, most unemployed UK citizens spent the majority of their time being productive, as seen from the top three pastimes which involve housework, shopping, and job hunting, while the least popular pastime was drinking.

In the top ranked category, housework, jobless UK women spent a disproportionately higher amount of time in comparison to their male counterparts, at approximately three times the number of men. A similar trend is seen for Shopping, where more time was spent by females in the morning (26%) and the afternoon (17%) compared to unemployed men. Most of the unemployed preferred to find jobs in the morning. It is interesting to note, however, that more males preferred to do so in comparison to females, with 22% and 16%, respectively.

Like housework and shopping, another pastime popular among out of work women was visiting friends or relatives, with a proportion around four to five percent higher than the men. In contrast, unemployed men favored activities such as gardening, decorating, watching TV, walking, and playing sports. Nevertheless, a shared feature between both genders is the relative unpopularity of drinking, with less than 5% of both genders spending time on it throughout the day.
