The table illustrates the attendance in various relaxing activities between adults in cities and adults in the countryside over 20 years.
Overall, a similar growth pattern was seen in the participants of reading and photography while game-playing and playing witnessed different inclinations in the number of people who participated in them.
Looking at the table in more detail, it is evident that both urban and rural areas underwent an increase of 10% in mature people who consider photography as their part-time hobby. In addition, despite standing at different figures in 1990 with 61% for cities and 71% for the countryside, both areas shared the same proportion of 78% for adult readers in 2010.
Regarding the remaining leisure activities, animated play constituted the same percentage of adult participants between 1990 and 2010, at 10%, whereas a decline of 4% was seen in the rural areas. In terms of playing, in 1990, the figures were 21% for urban areas and 26% for rural areas. However, 20 years later, the proportion of cities decreased to 14% whilst that of the countryside remained unchanged.
