The table below shows the percentage of the population by age groups in one town who rode bicycles in 2011.
The table gave information about the proportion of townspeople who cycled in 2011 classified into five age groups and two genders.
Overall, it is explicit that the ratio of female cyclists was exceeding that of males in all age groups. Children aged 0 to 9 years old got the lion’s share with over 50 percent in both groups while the lowest proportion belonged to the middle-aged.
In the age group of 0-9, almost half of children rode bicycles with slight differences in the ratio of two genders. However, the number of male cyclists halved in teenagers (10-17) while this figure only decreased insignificantly in the female group, from 52 percent to 42 percent. This declining trend went on in the group of 18-39 in which the rates fell from 42 to 17 percent for women and 24 to 20 percent for men.
Cycling was the least common among the middle-aged group with a modest ratio in the male and female group was 8 and 12 percent respectively. However, it then rose significantly in the older group, reaching 19 percent of women in comparison with 13 percent of men.
