In 2009, teachers in Luxembourg were paid $80,000 at the start of their teaching career, almost double the figure in Denmark at $45,000. Salaries in Luxembourg and Denmark are twice as high as in the other three. Teachers earned $34,000 in Japan, $30,000 in South Korea and $28,000 in Australia.
A Luxembourg teacher may earn up to 119,000 dollars after 15 years of experience and 132,000 dollars at their highest salary after 15 years of experience. Furthermore, in two Asian nations, Japan and Korea, teachers with 15 years experience had salaries with 65,000 dollars and 48,000 dollars. These numbers could increase up to 86,000 dollars and 62,000 dollars of maximum salary. Beside that, teachers in Australia and Denmark had salaries after 15 years of working in secondary or high schools with 48,000 dollars and 54,000 dollars.
