The table below shows social and economic indicators for four countries in 1994, according to United Nations statistics.

The table shown below reports both social and economic indicators from the United Nations statistics of 1994 with respect to Canada, Japan, Peru, and Zaire. Overall, it can be seen that both Japan and Canada are two first world countries, with their annual income per person respectively of 15760 and 1110 dollars, and the percentage of adult literacy rate of 99% for both countries. Zaire, however, stated at 130 dollars per year per person and Peru at 160, while literate Zairians were 34% of the population, half of Peru's rate.
The discrepancy remains wide when taking life expectancy at birth into consideration: Japanese and Canadians were expected to live up to 78 and 76 years respectively, almost 30 years more than Zairians (47 years) and Peruvians (51 years). The fourth indicator refers to the daily calorie supply per person, that sees Zaire's share of 1749 calories per day being almost half of that of Canada, that totaled at 3326 calories per person. As can be seen, the Japanese eat remarkably less than Canadians but more than Peruvians, considering that the totals amounted to 2846 and 1927 daily calories per person.
