The table below shows social and economic indicators for four countries in 1994, according to United Nations statistics.
The table depicts information on the four indicators of social and economic status for Canada, Japan, Peru and Zaire. The study covers the year of 1994.
In general, the country with the highest income per person and life expectancy at birth was Japan while Zaire was the least. However, Canada had the highest daily calorie supply per person while both Canadians and Japanese had mostly had the biggest percentage for adult literacy rate.
As per survey made by the United Nations statistics, the annual income of Japan per person was 15,760 dollars which exceeded Canada’s yearly income by 4,060 dollars per individual. This was followed by Peru and Zaire with 160 dollars and 130 dollars, respectively. Similar ranking was observed for life expectancy at birth where Japan placed first at 78 years old as opposing to that for Zaire which was ranked last at 47 years old.
Concurrently, the highest daily calorie supply per person was seen among Canadians with 3,326 calories supplied per person while Zaire recorded the least with 1,749 calories taken per individual. Meanwhile, both Canadians and Japanese had 99 % literacy rate as opposed to the other two nations with 68 % and 34 %. By comparison, the adult literacy rate of Canada and Japan was three folds higher than that of Zaire.
