The table shows the number of mobile phones sold in millions for a period of six years. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The table provides information about how many phones were sold by five brands from the year 2006 to 2012.
There are two clear trends visible, Nokia as a top brand rule the field for most of the time, except in the year 2012 where Samsung surpassed Nokia sale. Nokia starting from a high number 345 million then increased steadily to 463 million phones in 2010. After that, this figure saw a significant dip to 335 million in 2012. Having the same pattern, Samsung soared up gradually from 117 million to 330 million in 2011 where it excessed Nokia and end up at 396.5 million. Likewise, Apple experienced a sharp grow from 2.3 million to 135.8 million, even when it was not a brand until 2007.
Conversely, Motorola, a strong rival of Nokia in 2006, had a bad performance throughout the years. It began with a robust number 210 million and slipped noticeably to only 28 million in 2012. Similarly, Ericsson sale went up modestly from 74 million to 102 million then fall dramatically to 28 million by the end of the period.
Overall, Nokia and Samsung were the two prominent brands that increased sale over the years, meanwhile Ericsson and Motorola were performing badly. In addition, it is noticeable that Apple, a mobile brand that started one year later than the others, had a robust climb.
