There are a number of different stages undertaken in order to ensure that shellfish are qualified for the market. These including catching, labelling, processing and distributing.
The first stage of the process begins when shellfish are catch in artisanal fishing method by boats equipped with GPS location device. These boats are monitored automatically through the signal it transmits to satellite which is controlled by staff at monitor room in Santiago. Having been collected, a barcode is generated so as to certify the catch in the labelling system. Next, products are put through processing plant so that it received certification, in order word meet international requirement. In the final step, certified shellfish are distributed via different means of transportation such as planes or trucks to local and international consumers.
In summary, the process of preparation ensures that shellfish are collected, labeled, certificated if they are in good condition and then delivered to end-consumers in different regions.
