The table shows the proportions of pupils attending four secondary school types between 2000 and 2009.
The table compares three separate years, 2000, 2005 and 2009 in term of the numbers of students who attended specialist schools, grammar schools, voluntary-controlled schooled and community schools.
Overall, it is clear that both the rates of people enrolling grammar schools and voluntary-controlled schooled witnessed a downward trend over the period shown. By contrast, the percentage of community students dramatically increased during nine years.
There was 52% of voluntary-controlled pupils followed by 24% and 12% of the figures for grammar schools and specialist schools in 2000 respectively. In nine years later, the proportion of students who took part in voluntary-controlled schooled declined by 32% to 20% in comparison with 10% and 12% the rest of schools respectively.
However, the number of community learners was hit the lowest point just at 12% in 2000. On the other hand, that of those significantly climbed by 46% to 58% in 2009.
