The three pie charts below show the changes in annual spending by local authorities in Someland in 1980, 1990 and 2000.
The pie charts depict the percentage of the expenditure spending on five services by authorities in Someland in separate three years; 1980, 1990 and 2000. Overall, during the 3 decades, the percentage of the cost spending on K-12 education and health human and resources had fallen, while the figure for other services had increased. It is also clear that the authorities in Someland spent the greatest expenditure on higher education.
In 30 years, the greatest expenditure was on education which accounted for 35% of total spending in 1980 but rose dramatically to 45% in 1990 before falling to 40% of total spending in 2000. Likewise, although accounting for 16% of total spending in 1980, the spending on transportation fell considerably to 6% of total budget in 1990. However, this figure then rose sharply to 22% of total spending in 2000. On the other hand, environment services saw a rising trend, growing from 4% to 5% by 2000.
In contrast, K-12 education and Health and Human service saw a similar trend. By 2000, the expenditure spending on K-12 education had dropped gradually from 25% to 18% of total spending. Similarly, the figure had decreased slightly from 14% to 15% of total spending in terms of health and human resources, despite a reach of 20% of total spending in 1990.
