The pie charts shows the proportion of expenditure incurred by the local authorities in Someland in three different time periods-1980, 1990 and 2000. Six various categories of expenditures were measured during the given time frames.
Overall, the three major sectors- transportation, environmental services and higher education were among the significant sectors with regards to budget allocation. higher education has always been the sector with utmost priority.
In 1980, the greatest proportion, 35% of spending was allocated to higher education. The investment followed the similar trend with highest priority in 1990 with 45 percent while a slight decline of 5% in 2000. Similarly, k-12 education also belonged to the top rank in early years whereas the expenditure is steadily declining in the succeeding periods to 18 percent in final year. A rising environmental concern has been depicted with the increase in expenditure from 4 to 5 to 9 percent in the respective years 1980, 1990 and 2000.
The transportation sector too follows an udulating expenditure pattern with 16 percent in 1980. A drop to 6 percent in 1990 and a suprising rise in 2000 with a 22 percent of total spending.
