The two figures below show the rate of criminal convictions among men and women of different ages in the US and the proportion of male and female prison inmates in the British prison system.
According to the two figures, the graph represents the proportion of committed offenders in the UK by different age groups and sexes, and the pie chart displays a comparison regarding the percentage of convicted criminals in different sexes.
It is obvious that the number of male convicts is always higher than female in all the age groups. The amount of criminality hits the high point in both sexes particularly in adolescence, while male criminals are triple of female ones. There is a significant discrepancy showed in two sexes of people in jail in the pie chart.
The conviction rates of both genders illustrate a similar trend from all the age groups. At the age of 10, the female and male offenders are 0% and 2% respectively. From then on, the conviction rate of youth boys soars to 16% at the age of 20, which is the highest percentage throughout the age range. In the meantime, a steady increase is showed on the conviction rate in youth girls, reaching 5% at the age of 20. Afterwards, the volume of criminality starts tuning down in both male and female, gradually declining to 2% and 0%.
Given all the age groups, the percentage of male prisoners is remarkably larger than that of female ones. Therefore, it shows a proportion that men outnumbered women with a ratio of 24 to 1.
