WATER CONSUMPTION

Essay topics:

WATER CONSUMPTION

The pie chart illustrates the water consumption across five different categories in Australia in 2004 while the table provides a break down of residential water use in the same year.
Overall, the majority of water used for residential areas, followed by business and industry sectors. It can be seen from the table that Australians used the most water for gardening and bathroom while kitchen was the smallest share.
In 2004, the largest proportion of water, about three fourths was consumed by houses and 13% for apartments. it is readily apparent that only one in tenth was used for businesses and industries each. Another noticeable is that the amount of water consumed by the government was double the figure used for other purposes, with the figures being 6% and 3% respectively.
Looking at the table we can see that Australians consumed water the most for bathroom and garden, with approximately 27.5% each. The water used for laundry purposes accounted for 20%, which was 10% more than the figure for kitchen purposes, in comparison with toilet use which made up 15%.
