Example Task 1
You are living in a University residence, and you have a problem with the high levels of noise from a new campus restaurant which is open late at night. Write a letter to the governor of the University. In your letter,
Complain about the situation
Say why this is a problem
And propose ways to reduce the noise
Dear Mr. Smith,
I am a third year student of an architecture college and my exams will be starting from next week. I am writing this letter to draw your attention towards a noise that is coming from nearby restaurant which is operating till late at night. They play loud music most of the time which is not allowed as per norms. But, there is no one to stop them so they keep playing the same for a long time.
This is really disturbing while studying. I am working very hard to do well for my exams but neither able to concentrate or sleep due to the continuous noise.
I, therefore would like to suggest that timing of the restaurant should be restricted to 10:00 pm. Also, if a notice is put up stating there is an educational premises nearby so keep the noise to an absolute minimum; it might be helpful.
Your valuable guidance will be helpful in this matter.
Kind Regards,
John
