The reading explains three problems related to the plan of sending humans to Mars, while the professor rejects the reading's problems and provides three solutions as follows.
Firstly, the reading claims that due to the long distance between Mars and Earth, accounting for at least two years, a plenty of food and water should be provided for astronauts, while the cargo capacity of space vehicles is too limit. In contrast, the professor points out that the astronauts can use hydro plants which can be grown just in the water. Not only this plant can provide sufficient food for astronauts, but also transmit CO2 to O2 which provides astronauts with fresh air. Furthermore, the water which is used for this plants can be recycled several time and used as a clean water.
Secondly, the reading claims that astronauts on the Mars are in the hazardous circumstances due to zero-gravity. While the professor reckons that several stations are developed for astronauts to have appropriate exercise in the zero-gravity. In addition, they regularly consume some nutrition foods such as vitamin to cope with the problem of bone density in zero-gravity.
Eventually, the reading claims that astronauts on Mars would be exposed to dangerous level of space radiation. While the professor affirms that they are equipped with special shielded area to safe themselves on the Mon. Moreover, all the time the radiation of sun is not dangerous.
