You are going to another country to study. You would like to do a part-time job while you are studying, so you want to ask a friend who lives there for some help.
Write a letter to your friend. In your letter
• give details of your study plans
• explain why you want to get a part-time job
• suggest how your friend could help you find a job
Dear Jake,
I hope my letter finds you well. I am writing to you today seeking some help. I took your advice and applied for a studying opportunity at Cambridge University in your town. My study course will be for two years.
As you know, the renting rates are very high in the district around the collage, also the living expenses are quite challenging. I was not able to get a full scholarship so I will be paying half of the intuation fees, which by the way are surprisingly still high. I was hoping you can assist me in finding a part-time job to help support me through my stay.
If you can spread the word between your friends, I will be delighted. I have a reasonable experience in waitering, as I used to help my uncle in his restaurant her in Australia. Also if possible could u publish an ad in your local newspaper, this will help us find good opportunities and save us some time as I will be arriving in a couple of weeks.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours Sincerely,
Amanda Jhones.
