You are studying English at a private language school attended by many international students. You are planning a surprise birthday party for a friend who has been feeling particularly sad and homesick. Write to another classmate and invite him / her to the party. In your letter:
explain the reason for the party
give the date and time of the party
suggest what the classmate could bring to the party
Dear John,
Firstly, thank you for all your help on my assignments, I have been bombarded with assignments by our teacher and your help is greatly appreciated. Anyways, I was planning a surprise birthday party for Manoj. Let me describe the details to you.
Manoj, our classmate, has been feeling really low as he was unable to attend his parent’s 25th anniversary back home because of our final exams. On top of that, he is also feeling drowsy due to antibiotics which he has been taking for his fever. Hopefully, this surprise party will bring back a smile on his face. Manoj's birthday is on 23rd August and I have booked Ravenclaw, the school coffee shop, for the event. I forgot to mention that Ajay, Vijay and Ramesh have already agreed to attend the party. They already ordered the cake and if you are planning to attend, could you please get the special candle, which is sold near your house?
I hope you will be able to make it. Manoj will be over the moon to see you at the party. You are one of his best friends, so your attendance would definitely make a difference. I am eagerly waiting for your response.
Regards,
Nitin
