You have borrowed something from your friend, but it was damaged. Write a letter to your friend and say- Apologize for damaging the product- How was it damaged?- What will you do about it?
Dear Saad,
Hope you are doing well. I have to regretfully inform you that the travelling bag which I had borrowed from you has been damaged. Let me explain in detail.
Firstly, I know this travel bag was special for you as it was covered with travel stickers which reminded you of the overseas travel you did with your friends. Hence I would like to apologize and hope you are not angry with me as it was not intentional and happened by accident. To elucidate while travelling from Bangkok to Singapore the airline's staff had mishandled the travelling bag thus breaking the hard shell case from the top. Although the airline staff did send a written apology however the damage had already been done.
Lastly, I am ready to get the travel bag fixed from Samsonite store since your bag as it is still covered under warranty. Once fixed I shall return it to back to you.
Looking forward to meeting you soon.
Warm wishes
