You received a letter from a friends asking for advice about whether to go to college or to try to get a job. You think he/she should get a job.
Dear James,
I am writing a reply letter to you who is clearly in a dilemma about getting a degree or looking for employment. Hence, I strongly suggest you to get a job.
Frankly, it is obvious your parents want you to enroll in college but you need to follow your heart instead of listening to your parent's words. Honestly, your passion about cooking and your dream to have your own restaurant is really tangible; moreover, culinary skills require more practical experiences rather than sitting in the class.
First, going to college was a stepping stone to a better job in the past. Nowadays, getting a degree is not sufficient to start a professional career and promote in it so I recommend you to consider that unemployment rates of graduate students have extremely increased in our country in the last decade. Frankly, you can acquire practical skills at school but it is
limited; hence, the best way to learn specialist skills is by experience in a real working environment.
On the one hand, you can look for a position in a restaurant with a top chef because this can be really suitable for you since you do not have any relevant experience at first. This being the case, you can improve your expertise in culinary skills by watching and learning from your senior colleagues. On the other hand, you can run your own restaurant as a manager and recruit some cooks and a head-chef so you can provide exotic foods, a nice atmosphere and friendly service.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Tommy Comperor
