You successfully passed a job interview. You are expected to start on November 15, but you will not be available on that date. Task: Write a letter to your new boss, explaining your situation, expressing your concern and suggesting a solution.
Dear Sir,
Thank You for giving me an opportunity to work under your guidance. I am eagerly waiting to start my new career path in your company. I have received an appointment letter with the starting date of 15th November; however, due to unavoidable circumstances, I will not be able to join on that day. The colleague to whom I have to give handover is on medical leave, and since the project is of crucial importance to this company, I can not let it go.
I understand your situation, the position is vacant since last month and it is of essential importance as many of the decision makings are pending. Moreover, the project at your end is also getting delayed and I apologise for not being able to join on the recommended date.
If permissible, I can fill in the position by 21st November, and agree to compensate by working extra hours including on weekends until the project gets streamline as per schedule.
I am looking forward to start working soon at your firm.
Your's faithfully,
Shreyas Parab
