In education and employment, some people work harder than others. Why do some people work harder? Is it always a good thing to work hard?
It is true that some students and workers put more effort in their study and work than others. There are some possible reasons for this trend and I will give my opinion on this before drawing the conclusion.
There are two primary causes leading to such hard work in schools and workplace. The first and foremost reason is some people always desire to achieve their targets to secure their future. In fact, they are driven by their goals and completely concentrate on their study and work to get high grades or promotion in the future. Another reason is that some people come from an unwealthy family background. In this case, a poor student often try his/her best to get top scores to earn scholarships to reduce a certain part of his/her tuition fees for their families. Similarly, working people have to work even harder than their colleagues to support their families financially.
In my opinion, such hard work would result in both positive and negative equally. On a positive side, diligence is more likely to become a motivation to their peers or coworkers and contribute enormously to shaping their personalities. When you work with hard working people, you would feel more motivated than those who are surrounded by lazy students or colleagues. On a negative side, because they totally focus on their work and study, they seem to neglect other aspects of their life such as their family or social life. This would lead to a lack of closeness in their family, especially the relationship with their parents. Besides, their social life could be affected in a negative way since they spend less time on leisure pursuits or outdoor activities or with their friends. This possibly results in the high level of stress and pressure, which is a contributing factor to mental illnesses such as depression in the modern world.
In conclusion, it is understandable that some people do their best in their study or work to get the best outcomes. Personally, I think people should get a work-life balance to benefit both their private and professional life.
