Modern societies need specialists in certain fields, but not in others. Some people therefore think that governments should pay university fees for students who study subjects that are needed by society. Those who choose to study less relevant subjects should not receive government funding.
Would the advantages of such an educational policy outweigh the disadvantages?
It is often argued that government of respective country should provide the scholarship to the subject which can address the need of society than general course. The advantage of this outweighs the drawbacks. The essay will first demonstrate the fact that eradication of social problem is the biggest advantage of this followed by an analysis of how it creates the primary disadvantage namely inequality provision.
The principle advantage of providing university fee of selective student who have pursuing their higher degree related to social problem definitely help to make social cohesion. It allows pupils plenty of free time to get update with the multiple social issues and their way forward to dissolve these problem by minimizing their financial burden. As a consequence of that, learner will equipped with more specialized vision and dimension and able to initiate at the social context where such problem are deeply rooted. For instance, this is most evident in my country that Tribhuwan University announced scholarship provision only to the student of social sciences every year than other faculties in Nepal.
Despite these advantages it impairs student from the provision of social justice from government mechanism itself. The state of equality teaches students regarding compassion, coordination and we feeling to everyone thereby mobilizing them to eradicate the social disparity is even feasible. For example, The Himalayan Times in March 2019 reported that 15 percent of national crime rate in Nepal has decreased because of the multidisciplinary consciousness regarding social problems and its solution.
In conclusion, the fact that offering tuition fee by the state government to the learners who are undertaking their higher education in social concern benefits them to have more scientific knowledge on the subject matter clearly outweigh the flawed argument that it impairs them from the sense of discrimination.
