Essay topics:

Some people think young people should follow the traditions of their society. Others think that they should be free to behave as individuals. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

There are valid arguments that advocate for the youth to conform to the customs of their society. Although I am of the opinion that adhering to tradition is essential for the younger generation, I firmly believe that they should be granted the liberty to express their individuality.
Granting young people the freedom to manifest their unique personalities and beliefs is imperative. It is vital that they express themselves and pursue their own interests and passions, thereby developing a sense of autonomy and independence, which are vital for their personal growth and well-being. Furthermore, some traditions may be obsolete or even deleterious, and the youth should be able to challenge and question them. For instance, Vietnam’s previous culture of child marriage has now been almost completely eradicated, thanks to the growing awareness and demand for individual freedom and respect in the community.
However, there are fundamental reasons why societal traditions should be upheld by the youth. Firstly, by adhering to these values, they can learn to appreciate their culture and history, which provide them with a sense of identity and belonging. Additionally, respecting traditions can help people develop a sense of responsibility and discipline, which can prepare them for their future social responsibilities. Children growing up in religious homes that observe frequent prayer and worship, for example, can learn responsibility and discipline from attending these gatherings. They may feel that it is their duty to participate in these religious rituals and uphold their responsibilities to their community.
In conclusion, it is important to encourage young people to preserve and develop traditions while also allowing them the freedom to behave independently.
