You live in a room in college which you share with another student. However, there are many problems with this arrangement and you find it difficult to work.
Write a letter to the accommodation officer at the college. In the letter,
a) describe the situation
b)explain your problems and why it is difficult to work
c) say what kind of accommodation you would prefer
Dear Madam,
My name is Rubesh and I’m pursuing my Masters in Robotic Automation (1st year). First of all at the outset, I would like to thank you for providing me a cozy hostel accommodation and I’m grateful for it. I’m actually sharing the room with another student, who is currently pursuing Psychology and human science in our college.
However, I’m facing quite a lot of issues, with my room partner and that is primarily the reason, why I’m writing this letter. Request you to please not treat this letter as a list of complaints against my roommate, but, rather try to understand my position and please do the needful. First things first, as indicated earlier, my roommate who is pursuing Psychology, tends to work at odd hours, keeping the lights on and listening to various pep talks and course materials on the Bluetooth loud speaker (he says, this talk enters into his sub-conscious directly). Myself being a light sleeper, I tend to get disturbed very easily and this leads to frequent headaches in the mornings, sometimes the entire day. Despite, trying to make him understand that I do need to catch up with some sleep, he keeps doing the same. Secondly, we both being of the same size, he borrows my clothes and goes to class. I don’t have qualms with that, however, the issue is, he doesn’t return it and this is then worn by some other friend of his the subsequent day and this goes on and sometimes, I don’t even, get my clothes back. Another incident which freaked me out and made me write this letter was, he once, air-locked the entire room and filled it up with incense smoke and had flooded the room with water, upto ankle length and was sitting bang in the middle of it, watching psychological analysis videos.
This totally shook me up and hence the need to write this letter. I request you to kindly provide me an accommodation with my department students, as it would help me to share notes and study combined with them.
Thanking you
