Imagine that a professor requires students to learn as much as possible about a subject in a short period of life. Is it better for the professor to require students to work together in a group or is it better to require students to work alone?

Living in modern era, attending university is a so much promising step toward being successful in future career for students. Professors typically adopt different approaches to teach lessons such as putting students in a group, requiring students to give oral presentation and writing paper regarding the topic, doing several homework and so forth. When it comes to the issue whether student should work collectively or individually, different people will adopt different attitudes towards this issue depending on their characters and educational backgrounds. On the one hand, there are people who believe that students will learn more regarding a subject working on individually since they can further concentrate on the topic and also save their time; on the other hand, others believe that working collectively has more outstanding merits. As far as I am personally concerned, the latter carries further weight since not only does it increase the effectiveness of their study but also does it improve their communication skills.

Working in a group, students deeply understand the topic absorbing information in different ways. As a matter a fact, working in a group with students who have different talents and skills gives the whole group the chance to hear distinct ideas regarding the topic, as a result of which they can discuss further concern the topic, share their ideas and finally chose the effective way to attack the problems. Therefore, students will not forget those lessons which they have learned from a long discussion with their friends. Moreover, working collectively allow students to go beyond the project and explore more about particular topic. Since some academic projects necessitate having several skills so as to carry out the project such as computer, experimental and theoretical skills, which cannot be done all by one person. Therefore, they will not only learn regarding the topic but also improve their skills working with students who are expert on such skills.

Students also improve their communication skills working in a group. In fact, participating in discussion regarding the topic makes student confidence and teach them how to prepare their self for an oral presentation. In fact, socializing with group members in a scientific environment prepare students to confidently talk in public. For instance, I remember that we had a group in high school and everyone should lecture regarding scientific topic every week, as a result of which when I attend to university I hadn't problem in my presentation. Moreover, students learn how to socialize and make friend in university to enjoy their life. In fact, they understand that being literate is not just for being successful in future career but also is for how to live and spend their time together. Therefore, working together allow students enormously develop their skills and socially growing up.

To wrap it up, working collectively not only does it allow student to obtain a panoramic view with respect to the topic but also does it prepare them to become a sociable person even in their real life. I think if university wants to increase the effectiveness of learning, they should consider further teamwork for students during their educational programs.
