Professor should prohibit the use of devices that can connect to the internet in class.
The advent of this era has provided us with a wide number of devices to make our daily task easier to carry. However, the usage such devices at wrong locations can cause some major issues. I am of the opinion that the use of artifacts which can connect to the internet should be banned in the class. I feel this way for two reasons, which I will explore in the following essay.
To begin with, usage of mobile phones can cause distraction in the lecture. many students are spotted using their phones to chat with their friends during the lecture. As a result, teacher gets distracted and often digress from what he was supposed to teach to scolding the culprit. my personal experience is a compelling example of this. when I recall of my sessions in the college there was no restrictions of bringing electronic devices in the lecture. hence, many students brought them in the session for their time pass. As a result, faculty have to always waste his lecture time in making them understand the value of the session and request them to pay attention to what is being taught. this waste of time resulted in our lectures lagging behind the university and we have to attend extra session as a make up for the delay. if the mobile phones had been banned in the college, then the faculty would not have been distracted and will be able to complete the syllabus on time.
Secondly, utilisation of internet during session makes student aware of the topic being taught beforehand. if teacher asks a question from student then with the help of internet that person is able to answer the question asked. hence, the faculty thinks that attendees already know about the topic and it is futile to explain every concept. So, he just cover only some important topics in order to refresh the knowledge of student. For instance, I used to struggle while attending the lectures in the college because others are able to answer the professor about the topics he asked with the help of internet. this made the professor interpret that students are already very much talented and they do not require any further instructions about the topic. Therefore, faculty just recapitulates the topic and think that his task is done. The major problem occurs when students like me neither know the topic beforehand and neither use internet to answer. we are stuck in between and are unable to make most out of the lecture which make difficult for us to pass the exam because we are devoid of the professor's knowledge. if students had didn't used the devices to answer, I would not have struggled with the exam as I would got sufficient notes of the teacher to study from.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that electronic devices should be forbidden in the lectures. this is because they distract the faculty and make the faculty interpret that students know everything about the subject.
