4days work week and its benefit
Both the lecture and the passage discuss the time hours of working for employees. The passage says that it would be beneficial for both employees and companies if employee have option of working for 4-days a week instead of 5-days a week, while lecture oppose this claim.
First, the passage says that when some employees work for 4-days a week they will get three fourth of their normal pay. So, this option give company benefit with pay less. Additionally, employees have more time to rest and get relax, hence they make fewer costly wrong during their task that it is as an advantagefor company. Even though, the lecture denies this by stating that the company will be forced adding more employees, following more office for them that result in spend more money by company.
Second, the passage states that by this changing, more job will be available for others, one person could be hired when four employees choose 4-days work a week, so that unemployment will be reduced. The lecture says that this is not true always. In fact, companies maybe force their employees work harder to compensate their off day. So not only, don’t the rate of unemployment reduce, but also the employee get less money of their normal pay even with same time of work.
Third, the passage mention that employees can enrich their life quality in the cost of less money. They can spend more time with their family, have more time for getting refresh. The lecture refuse this by talking about the existing of risk in their job in this situation that finally result in have less quality in their life. When someone chooses the 4-days work week, they will get less opportunity for the promotion in their job, and also get involved less in comparison to those who work 5-days a week that maybe make them lose their job.
